So Rachel loves movie night. She thinks it is great to sit down and eat popcorn in our bed and watch a movie. I decided that I wanted to do an even better movie night every once in a while (way too much sugar for a weekly thing). So I decided to buy some candy that you would get at the movie theater along with popcorn, of course, and we blew up the inflatable bed and let the girls lay on it with their pillows and sleeping bags/ blankets and watch a movie with mom and dad. It was a lot of fun. Rachel made play money so she could buy her snacks, I even got money for her glass of water (score)!! We watched Nemo which was a lot of fun because Sarah had not seen it yet and she loves fish. Sarah couldn’t contain her excitement about the fish and the turtles!! Nemo is a fun movie and watching it on the blow up bed with lots of candy is even better!!

Me and my girls
As you can tell from the pictures the girls had a good time and Rachel couldn’t take her eyes off the TV. Sarah would just turn around and look and Josh and I and say “fish, fish” or “turtle, turtle”. They are so cute!!
On Thursday, Rachel celebrated her 100th day of school!!! She was so excited!! They did fun activities all week dealing with the number 100. They had snacks that focused on 100 and lots of counting activities. They all had to bring 100 something into class to share with the other kids!! Rachel brought 100 pennies!! They also made fun 100 hats and wore them around the school in a parade!! They walked around the entire school singing a fun song and wearing their crazy hats!!
Hi Ho, Hi Ho, 100 days ago
We came to school and we’re so cool,
Hi Ho, Hi Ho, Hi Ho, Hi Ho

Rachel's 100 hat
Their hats say “I am 100 days smarter”. Isn’t learning fun!! Rachel sure loves school and has been there all 100 days!!

Sarah
I just look at how cute my girls are and wonder how they got so cute!! I truly believe that I have the most beautiful girls in the entire world (especially when they are happy!)
Sarah is so much fun!! I love having one on one time with her while Rachel is in school!! We read together, sing lots of songs and play!! We also do a lot of running around!! We go shopping which Sarah likes but her favorite activity is the library!! She loves to go to story time and sing all the silly songs. Sarah just loves to sing!! She sings all day long!! I just wanted everyone to see how cute my little baby girl is!! In this picture she is so excited because we are getting ready to go shopping at Target!! Yeah, so much fun!!
One of my favorite things about 5 year olds is their love for writing. Rachel loves to write down anything and everything. On the weekends she wants to write down for me what she wants for lunch. She makes stories and writes letter so friends. She love so write!! Her spelling is so fun and cute!! She often mistakes the CH sound with the J sound and other cute little things. So here are some of Rachel’s famous spellings. It is so cute and if you sound it out it does make sense, she is so smart, not correct but still smart!!
Sanwij= sandwich
Joclit= chocolate
cuces= cookies
jereos=cheerios
grap=grape
haws=house
basroom=bathroom
velintinz day= valentine’s day
I think that she really does to a good job, I know that lots of kids can spell but I am just so proud of her for being willing to sound things out and give it a try. She has a journal that she writes in at school and loves it!! Her teachers say she does great and that as long as I can sound it out and see what she means that it is perfect!! I love my big 5 year old!!
When I went to bed Friday night I had grand plans of what I wanted to do with the girls on Saturday. When I woke up on Saturday my plans were not very fun or eventful, all I really wanted to do was nap. We had a very overcast day here in the desert which doesn’t happen too often, but it made me want to stay in bed and not leave the house. Poor girls, what a lazy mommy they have-good thing they still love me!! We spent most of the day just running errands and then doing things around the house. I did make cookies in the afternoon and then attempted to put Sarah down for her nap. Attempt is always the key word with Sarah and napping. I ended up holding Sarah in her room in the recliner while she slept, oh so much fun. Rachel was a big helper and ran some fun errands with Dad, you know like to take the recycling and go to Jiffy Lube, this is the kind of fun you can only enjoy with Dad, she had a blast!!
After the errands were done and Sarah was awake the girls were making their own fun by playing Ring Around the Rosies with their baby doll and stuffed bear. They really wanted us to join in so here are a couple of pictures of Josh playing with the girls!! It was so fun, Sarah is just at that age where she loves things like this!!

We all Fall Down!!
Of course, We all fall down was both Rachel and Sarah’s favorite part!! I think Josh and my favorite part was when we were done falling down….I think we are getting old!!
After playing silly games and eating cookies we all went to the library, that is were Rachel had wanted to go all day long. So we went to the library and checked out some fun books for Rachel to practice reading on her own. While we were there we ran into some friends who invited us out to dinner. We all went to Fuddruckers and had some yummy food. While we were there a lady came over and made balloon animals for all the kids. The girls just loved this!!! Rachel got a bear holding a heart and Sarah got a little turtle bracelet. We had a nice dinner but just a note, don’t let your children get balloon animals until dinner is over- they don’t want to eat anything once they have such a fun toy!!! Here are some pictures of the girls at home with their balloons. Oh yeah, Grandma, Rachel wants you to make her some cool balloon animals the next time we come home to Missouri!!

Go Tigers!!
Most of the t-shirts that Josh and I own are Missouri Tigers t-shirts. We like our school and like wearing them. On Friday morning, Josh put on one of his many Mizzou shirts. Sarah just loves the tiger on the shirts and will go around pointing out the tiger all day long. Well Friday she brought Josh her cheerleader outfit and told him tiger, tiger, tiger. So here is Sarah wearing her Tiger!!! We make sure to teach our children young, Go Tigers!!
On Josh’s friday off he decided to take advantage of the beautiful weather and cut down some trees that were just in the way!! These trees were getting in the way of parking the truck so they had to come down!! The side of the house does look better now!!

The man in action!

After
It looks so much better, who knew our neighbors had a tree in their yard!!
Rachel had such a fun day off school on Monday!! I always want to do fun things on her day off but it doesn’t always turn out how I plan but today was wonderful!!! We went around the mountain to visit one of our friends. I frequently get to see our friend Tania and her little girl Gina but Rachel doesn’t get the opportunity very often because she is always in school. So we went and spent most of the day playing over at Tania’s house. Rachel just loves them and was so happy to play with little Gina. They played everywhere in the house upstairs and down and all three girls seemed to love it!! Tania is in the process of turning her basement into a playroom and it was filled with a slide, bag of balls (175 to be precise) and a big cardboard box ‘house’. This was a dream come true for my girls, Rachel loved playing with all of those balls and the big box. Why do we buy expensive toys when all they need is a box and balls!!! Anyways, we had a great time with Tania and Gina. When we got home we rested for about an hour and then another friend called and invited us to go play at the park. The weather has been beautiful all week, near 60 everyday!! So we played at the park and had a great time!! When it was time to come home we went home and had dinner with dad. After dinner we worked on making Rachel’s snowman project for school. It was fun to decorate her paper snowman as a family!!
Rachel just repeated all evening, “today was the best”!! Such simple things make children happy!! I love them!!

the balls must go into the box

I just have to share the cute store of Rachel learning about segregation. One night over the weekend I was sitting brushing Rachel’s hair when out of the blue she started telling me about this lady. “There was this lady who had brown skin and she was tired and wanted to sit on a bus and got in trouble and they put her in jail” then she started telling me that people use to not be nice to brown people. She told me that Martin Luther King Jr. wanted everyone to be nice and that he wanted brown people and peach people to be nice and happy together.
I sat there listening to her tell me all she learned about MLK and thinking that she is way too grown up!! Where did my baby girl go!! She is just so wonderful!! I was glad to know that she is learning things in school. She had MLK day off of school and woke up that morning telling me happy birthday to Martin Luther King and then telling me the story about how brown and peach people need to be nice and happy together.
Friday night Rachel got to go see High School Musical- The Ice Tour!!! She was so excited. My friend Amber had an extra ticket and took Rachel with her. They had a van full, it was Rachel, her friend Kirra, Amber, and two teenage girls from church.
Rachel loves all the music and dancing in the High School Musical movies so we thought she would love this too. She did!! She came home and the first thing she told me was how it said High School Musical on the ice, she thought that was cool. Then she had to tell me all about the zamboni!! Amber said that the zamboni was truly Rachel’s favorite part. She really did like the whole show but she has heard the music before but she had never seen the zamboni before. When I told Josh that the zamboni was Rachel’s favorite part he was really excited and thinks that means she would like watching ice hockey!!!
