Rachel had her last game of the season. It was really sad because it was the last two games that she really got into it. She is doing so amazing and has really gone after the ball, I hope she can hold onto this until next year, Papa Roger you would be proud!! I can’t believe the improvement she has made this year!! She just totally rocks!!

Go Rachel, Go!!

Like I said, Rachel was in the action the entire game. It was so funny because she had to sit out for one quarter (so everyone could have a turn) and she was so bummed, she told me she really wanted to play the entire game. This is a total change from the fall season when she would say ‘not again’ when her coach said it was her turn to go in. Way to grow Rachel!!
So Sarah is already a budding soccer player. She would take Rachel’s practice ball and kick it all over during the game, at times it was difficult to keep her off the field.

What a kick, Sarah!
After Rachel’s last game they had a little party to say good bye and celebrate their fun and successful year. I made the cake!! It was the easiest cake I have ever decorated, I need to find more things to place on cakes!!

The Dragonflies

Last time in the huddle

Rachel got her first award!! The team decided to do medals instead of trophies and Rachel loves wearing her medal. She was a little sad when all of her friends on other teams got trophies but thinks it is pretty cool that she can wear her award anywhere and all the time (unless mom makes her take it off!)
As a mom I try to teach Rachel about the earth and how important it is to take care of it. I probably fail at this most of the time but Earth day provided a great opportunity to teach her about keeping the earth clean and recycling. Rachel knows that we recycle but until this week I don’t think she ever really thought about it. All week she has been running around the house finding things and asking if it could be recycled or not. Then she would go around and turn off all the lights (sometimes even when you were in a room) and monitored water usage closely. It was really cute!! So as Earth day got closer I asked Rachel if she wanted to plant some flowers in the pot in our front yard to celebrate. She thought that was a great idea, she then added that we should go around to other people’s houses too and clean up their yards to help keep the earth beautiful (what a girl!!). So I suggested maybe we should start by making our yard beautiful (believe me it needs a lot of work). So after we planted our flowers we spent about an hour, while Sarah was napping, pulling weeds. Rachel is awesome!!

Watering the flowers

I love my husband so much!! He is the most amazing man in the world but boy is he a nerd!! I opened the newspaper this morning and saw the comic fox trot and there was a huge section that was just full of math equations. I just laughed and said Josh they made this comic just for you. So after lunch we were sitting at the table eating dessert and Josh grabbed the paper and figured out all 28 equations without a calculator in just a few minutes. I sure do love my big nerd!!
Rachel has always loved peeps, they are one of the best parts of Easter. Well at least in her eyes, I would have to say Reese’s PB eggs are the best!! This year was the first time Sarah had tried peeps and it was no surprise that she loved them too. Both girls really love marshmallows, and then when you add a sugar coating to them what could be better.
Sarah loved them and would just repeat over and over again “moshimosh birdie, I eat moshimosh birdie”. Moshimosh is what she calls marshmallows, she is just so crazy!

Moshimosh birdie
Easter had a later start this year because Josh has meetings and leaves for the church before the girls are even out of bed. We had to figure out some way to delay Easter from happening while he was gone and not give away all the secrets. So, since Josh gets up early the Easter bunny was still at our house and Josh actually scared the Easter bunny away (bad dad!!). We could tell that he came because our baskets were gone from off the table but you couldn’t see eggs or baskets anywhere and believe me Rachel did look. I informed Rachel that Dad was up too early and had scared the Easter bunny away but I was sure he would come back and finish the job. Rachel then concluded that he would probably come while we were at church (smart little girl). So when we got home he had come and Easter was saved and the kids had a great time. It was kind of fun to have pictures of the hunt in their church dresses instead of pajamas.

Sarah finding a well hidden egg

excited Sarah

Sarah's basket
The Easter bunny always hides the girls baskets filled with goodies. They normally take an extra basket while they hunt eggs and put the ones they find in there. Sarah was really funny, she found her bunny basket and saw all the good stuff and wanted it so she quickly emptied the goodies to her other basket, staking claim!!

Still on the hunt

Rachel's basket
Rachel always has so much fun hunting for eggs and her basket!!
This is why you don’t try to take pictures after the candy has been found. Both girls didn’t want to put down their candy to have a picture taken.

These are my crazy girls and these are the best pictures I got of them in their dresses. I guess it was a good thing I got professional pictures done in them too.
Rachel was so excited to decorate eggs Saturday morning that she barely let Sarah wake up and eat breakfast. Who knew decorating was just as exciting and finding the eggs.

Sarah stirring her egg
Sarah was very excited about her pink egg and would look at all the eggs and say ‘Sarah, pink egg’. You could tell she was proud!!

Hard at work
When Rachel was little I didn’t want her to decorate eggs because of the mess it would make so instead we always did Easter cookies. We don’t do this every year now that she gets to decorate eggs but it is still fun to do and the girls just love decorating cookies!!
It is funny because this picture looks like Sarah is actually decorating the cookie, she doesn’t really do that. She makes me spread the icing and put sprinkles on so she can pick the icing and sprinkles off and then eat the cookie. CRAZY GIRL!!

Finished
My oh my, Sarah!!!

Good to the last drop!

'What Mom'
I guess Sarah decided that the icing covered cookies were not enough, she didn’t want to waste a single drop of icing so she was typical crazy Sarah and started licking her plate. I wish she had that kind of passion for real food!!
Every year our ‘park day’ group does an egg hunt, it is always a sea of eggs but lots of fun!! This year was no exception.

Rachel getting ready

Sarah finding her eggs

In the basket, two at a time

The excitement

investigating!
Sarah was so funny and knew exactly what to do. The grass was full of eggs, it was a sea of colors. So Sarah only had to take a few steps and she had tons of eggs. She was grabbing them two at a time and throwing them in her basket so fast I could barely get a picture. She had lots of fun gathering and then eating!!

searching higher than she can reach

Rachel took me by surprise. Almost all of the kids went for the grass, the easy eggs but Rachel wanted a challenge and looked in the trees (even though she couldn’t reach them) and behind rocks and everywhere but the grass. I really expected her to be like the other kids and just go for quantity instead of a quality hunt. The only down side is that some people brought extra eggs so the kids could pick more than 12 and some really did and Rachel had 8 eggs and couldn’t find any more because by this time the ones on the grass were gone. Eventually after some nice people shared Rachel did end up with her 12 and then she was happy!! It was a lot of fun and it was nice that it happened on Good Friday ( no school) so all the kids could participate.

Sarah hiding with her candy
Sarah was very smart and knew that the eggs had good stuff inside so of course she was picking out all of the candy. She wasn’t suppose to eat any at the park (it is right before lunch), but Sarah had a different plan. She got a piece of candy out without me knowing and hid under the playground equipment and hid while she ate her Chocolate. What a crazy girl!!
Sarah just loves anything that has to do with Mickey or Minnie. I haven’t been able to find her any outfits that have Mickey or Minnie on them but I did find this one cute little outfit. Sarah got some money from Grandma Linda for her birthday and I found this outfit and had to buy it. The Minnie shirt and skirt and then the fun flower shoes. Sarah just loved wearing it.
This morning Sarah just yelled Minnie, Minnie and wanted to wear Minnie. I am glad that I have this one outfit for her to wear that will make her happy. Anyone seen any cute Mickey or Minnie clothes, I need more, she can’t wear the same thing everyday!!
Mealtimes in our home are normally a very unpleasant time. We have two incredibly picky eaters for children, a mom who hates to cook, and a husband that just wants to eat something. This combination makes it my least favorite time of day, well that was until recently! Sarah is very picky and spends most of her time playing with her food instead of eating it. This is a frustration but she is just so comical that you can’t help but laugh at her imagination!! If you remember the earlier post about her swimming/bathing cheerios that is just an example of her imagination with food.
So for lunch yesterday we had ham sandwiches and some fruit. Sarah of course immediately threw her ham on the floor and said “NO HAM”, this part is the frustrating part. Then she said “Sarah strawberry” so we gave her one and she kept turning it saying “chocolate strawberry” she was looking for the chocolate on them. The last time we had strawberries was for Valentine’s Day and I dipped the strawberries in chocolate, at the time she just ate the chocolate off the berries and then handed them back. So today she looked very hard for the chocolate and then decided that the leaves must be the chocolate and tried eating the leaves several times while saying “Strawberries chocolate”. She is just a funny kiddo!!
Since she wasn’t eating anything I decided to offer her a muffin that was left over from breakfast, she loves them. So I offered it to her and she ate most of it leaving only a small crescent shape on her plate. She then started to rock it back and forth while singing Rock-a-bye Baby. So there she was sitting in her high chair rocking her muffin and singing to us all. Then she asked for her milk and when we gave it to her she smiled really big and said “I hug milk” and proceeded to give her milk a big hug. Sarah’s imagination has kept our meals very entertaining, she is always doing something like this at dinner. Like I said, Dinner and a show.

Rock-a-bye Baby
