Sarah sitting on the potty the firs day!
Yes she might look cute while she smiles and sits on the potty but let me tell you the smiles didn’t last for too long. I truly believe that potty training is the worst thing you have to do as a mom (and both my girls have been fairly easy). Well I guess easy has never been a word we use in the same sentence with Sarah. The firs day of training was a disaster and very upsetting for mom. After our ups and downs she finally was completely pee trained after about 2 weeks. Pooping on the potty was another story and not a fun one. Sarah decided that it was to scary to sit and poop on the potty so she just wouldn’t. It started with her going #2 in her underwear but when we told her that wasn’t ok she stopped going #2 completely. Josh and I were forced into giving her laxatives but even those didn’t work. She would hold it for days, in pain and not able to walk but just wouldn’t go. If that isn’t stubborn, I don’t know what is. At that point I didn’t care where she went, I just wanted her to go. We offered M&M’s galore, prizes, bubble baths, trips to fun places, you name it and we offered it to the girl if she would just go poop! Finally after she went 5 days without pooping and was in so much pain she couldn’t walk I had to give her an enema (which was NOT fun). After that she finally started going on a regular basis!! Yes it is so funny how happy a mom can get when her kid goes poop. Now I am not saying we don’t still have an occasional accident but those I can handle, I am just grateful to finally be on the upside of this battle!! I am glad to be done with diapers! Way to go Sarah!!
I truly think that turning 31 is a lot harder than turning 30. With 30 it is almost fun, well especially when your husband and dear friends give you a surprise birthday party. 31 was just so much more painful, I am now not just turning 30 but into my 30’s. Now that is depressing!! Oh well, I guess that you are only as old as you act, so I must really only be 18!
I did have a wonderful birthday!! My husband left me little notes all over the house and Rachel went out of her way to make a big deal of my birthday. I even got to go out to dinner for my birthday to my new favorite restaurant, PF Changs! That was a fun night, we went out to dinner with our friends Matt and Yvette. Yvette’s birthday is the day before mine so it was fun to go out and celebrate both of our birthdays and the best part is that our husbands set the entire thing up!!
I guess being 31 won’t be too bad, especially if I don’t think about it too much!
Sarah has just started really liking to help me in the kitchen. She wants to help make everything. Her favorite thing to help with is making cookies, I think that has to do with the chocolate chips she gets to eat at the end. I do love having little helpers and love her excitement for wanting to help!

Sarah helping mix the cookies!
Rachel started Soccer again this fall and is loving it!! It is amazing how different she plays from just a year ago. She is scoring goals, assisting in goals, drippling the ball and wants to be in the game and get that ball. It is so fun to watch her and her teammates, all of the girls are REALLY good!! I love their team name the “blueberries”, girls come up with some of the funniest names for sports teams.

Go #5!

Get that ball Rach!
I had the opportunity to help out in the kitchen for our youth’s Decades Dinner activity!! It was such a fun night and I loved seeing all the girls dress up from the different time periods, their outfits were amazing. I decided to dress up from the 50’s because I could find almost the entire outfit in my closet so not spending money was a key to my costume.

The Ladies that came and helped out in the kitchen with me were lots of fun too!! I love Amber’s excitement for dressing up, she really gets into it which I love because it makes me want to get into it too! Thanks Amber!!

These ladies are ALL amazing!! What a fun night!! I loved this idea and hope the youth do it again next year!

Rachel's black eye
Poor Rachel, she got beat up by her little sister. This summer and still for a little while afterwards these two sisters were constantly fighting. I am happy to say that now that Rachel has been in school for a while the girls are getting along great once again. Sarah is such a sweet kind loving quiet child to everyone but her sister. For some reason Rachel brings out the absolute worst in Sarah. This day Sarah didn’t want Rachel to watch TV with her so she grabbed a play phone and hit Rachel in the head hard. I instantly put Sarah in time out and when I came back Rachel’s eye was already black and blue and swollen. Poor Rachel!
