La Cueva Easter Egg Hunt

  • Posted on March 31, 2010 at 6:51 pm

The La Cueva Easter Egg Hunt is a highlight of the Easter season.  My girls love running around collecting candy filled eggs.  Ok they really just want all the candy and will do anything to get it!!

This was the first year that Rachel didn’t get to participate.  They planned the hunt for when all the kids were in school because last year there were just too many kids when you let the old kids do it to.  This was so much more peaceful and enjoyable, even though Rachel was pretty upset.  But Sarah shared all the candy she wouldn’t eat with Rachel and guess what, Rach was no longer sad!

Tee Ball Opening Ceremony

Rachel played T-ball for Eastdale Little League this spring and had a blast.  They are a fun league and over all it was a wonderful experience.  They have an Opening Ceremony to start the season off and Rachel’s team got to walk in the front of the ‘parade’ and carry the banner around the fields.  DSC08776

Fun with Grandma!!

One of my girls favorite things to do at Grandma Zymball’s house is to play store in the basement.  Rachel loves to be on one side of the counter and charge you money (at least it is pretend money) to buy ‘food’.  Sarah got in on the fun this trip and really enjoyed playing store and both girls would try to convince every person that walked into Grandma’s house to come visit their store.

Of course coming to Missouri in March can be a risky trip, it snowed over a foot of snow the day before we were suppose to leave and drive back home.  My girls didn’t know what to do with all of that snow, we went out to play and build a snowman at 9am when there was only about 5 inches of snow on the ground, but it never stopped snowing all day long.  The snow did delay our trip home by half a day but it all worked out in the end.  The girls enjoyed the extra time with grandma and enjoyed the snow.  Snow in Missouri is A LOT different than snow in New Mexico, in Missouri  you get more, it lasts a lot longer and when you go play in the snow it is actually COLD.  So the girls had fun playing in the snow but loved coming inside and having hot chocolate and snuggling with grandma afterwards the most!!

We ended up at Grandma Leckbee’s house on Sarah’s actual birthday so she had yet another celebration with cake!  What a lucky little girl!

My girls love going to Edina and visiting Grandma Leckbee.  They love to read books with Grandma and do crafts together.  This was a unique trip because while visiting this time we were able to meet Uncle Joey’s fiancee, Brianna.  Rachel instantly loved her!  It was really sweet to see Joey so happy!!

Minnie Party

  • Posted on March 8, 2010 at 3:03 am

I can’t believe that my baby girl is 3 years old.  Where did the time go.  She is such a joy in our life and continues to melt my heart everyday.  We are truly blessed by having her in our family.  Life has not been easy the last three years but the hard times don’t compare to the Joy we have had.

For Sarah’s third birthday she wanted a Minnie cake!!   She is just so funny, and completely obsessed with Mickey Mouse and his friends.  I thought that this obsession would decrease over the year (since she was so in love with them last year) but her love for Mickey may never end.  So I put my cake making skills to the ultimate test and made her Minne cake which is now my favorite cake that I have ever made!!

Sarah was so cute!  She just loved her cake and the best part was that I made her a bow for her hair that matched Minnie’s.  When I put the bow in her hair, you would have thought that I had just put on a crown full of diamonds the way she got so excited.  I love to see her smile!

Sarah had a lot of fun at her party.  We played ‘find Minnie’s bows’, I hid little bows all over the front room and the kids had to find them all.  Then we had a ‘Candy Walk’ , where I placed pictures of Mickey and Minnie and several of their friends and the kids walked around the circle on them.  When the music stopped they had to stand on a friend of Mickey and I would draw the name of a friend, Kade was very lucky at this game and won almost every time.  I had to stop drawing the names out because every time I did Kade would win.

This was my favorite game.  We played pin the bow on Minnie and I actually blindfolded the kids.  It was funny to see how all the kids handled being blindfolded.  Rachel and Gina didn’t know what to do without their sense of sight, it was very entertaining!!  DSC08665

Dirt Angels

  • Posted on March 1, 2010 at 8:18 pm

Rachel has started Tee Ball and is very excited and is enjoying practice and can’t wait for the games.  I, on the other hand am not so excited.  While Rachel is playing, Josh is helping coach, so Sarah and I get to sit on the stands and watch.  Well there is another little boy about Sarah’s age that gets to watch too.  So Sarah and this little boy were playing in the dirt, they made big piles in the dirt and then Sarah decided to roll around in the piles.  So of course I freak out because my little girl is rolling around in the dirt (not grass but dirt).  So I tell her that is yucky and to stop.  So the next time I look over at her she is laying on her back in the dirt making a ‘dirt Angel’, can you say YUCK.  The worst part is that we were suppose to go to a birthday party straight from the ball fields.  So I brushed her off the best I could,  she reminded me of Pig Pen from Charlie Brown, with a cloud of dirt surrounding her the rest of the night.  This may be a long season for me.

I actually wish I did have a picture to post so you could see how DIRTY that little girl was but of course, the camera was at home.
